Events and Ressources
NGSE
Next Generation Solar Energy (NGSE) is an international conference series organized by the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energies (HI ERN)
In 2026, (NGSE 11) will be held from 8th – 9th of December 2026
FAU Solar Lecture 2025
Dr. Marius Peters (Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg, FAU Profile Center Solar) explores the global energy transition through a unique lens: by comparing it to humanity’s greatest undertakings, from the Pyramids to the Apollo program to the COVID-19 crisis response.
With clear data and a compelling narrative, he shows how the transition to a net-zero carbon world is not only technologically feasible – but economically beneficial and historically achievable. Peters frames the energy transition not as a burden, but as one of the most meaningful investments of our time.
YouTube channel “Energiemärkte erklärt” (Energy Markets Explained)
Mario Liebensteiner, Assistant Professor of Energy Markets at FAU and member of FAU Solar, tackles current issues in energy markets. Topics range from “What do free-range eggs and electricity tariffs have in common?” to “What does online dating have to do with electricity prices?”

Solar TAP

Solar TAP
Solar TAP is a Helmholtz initiative for an emerging PV Technology Acceleration Platform headed by Christoph J. Brabec.
Our partners: Forschungszentrum Jülich, Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and more than 40 Industrial Partners.
EnCN

EnCn
The Energie Campus Nürnberg (EnCN) is a cooperative association of scientific partner institutes in the field of energy research. Together on one campus, the EnCN scientists are researching new technologies to realize the “Energiewende”.
SolTech

SolTech
SolTech is an interdisciplinary project initiated by the government of Bavaria to explore innovative concepts for converting solar energy into electricity and non-fossil fuels. SolTech complements research by chemists and physicists at five different Bavarian Universities and is funded with 50 million Euro.
Degree programs
Your ambition is to contribute to solar energy solutions? FAU offers a broad range of degree programs which pave the way for your career in solar energy in fields covering chemistry, material science, engineering and economics / business management.
