Energy Hybrid Interfaces Group Secures Front Cover in Advanced Functional Materials

The research group Energy Hybrid Interfaces, led by Pablo Jimenez-Calvo, member of FAU Solar at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), has been awarded a Front Cover in the prestigious journal Advanced Functional Materials. The cover highlights their recent work titled “A Lattice of Ionic Poly(heptazine imide) Frameworks Interconnected by Single Metal Atoms: A Transformative Energy Interface.”

Light sparks dynamic charge migration through ionic metal poly(heptazine imide) frameworks interlinked with single metal atoms. Transition and noble metals tune reactivity, weaving atomic precision with molecular design. These hybrids illuminate new frontiers in photocatalysis, photoelectrocatalysis, and organic transformations, showcasing how tailored architectures transform sunlight into chemical innovation.

The front cover recognition underscores the growing international visibility of FAU’s solar energy research and highlights the innovative materials design strategies being developed within the Energy Hybrid Interfaces group.
